Painting Wood Paneling

So after all the work that went into fixing the walls in the Guest Bedroom, Chris and I decided to paint the wood paneling downstairs. You can read more about that initial decision here. So we first tried the color that was in the Living Room accent wall:
We both agreed that we were going to paint the wood paneling, but also that this was not the right shade of blue. It was too dark. So in the spirit of "Just Doing It", we bravely picked out a gallon of light blue paint for these walls. I started by carefully painting the lines in between the panels:
And then I just kept going:
After doing this corner (just one coat), Chris and I decided that this shade of blue was too light. It looked almost white. We are now planning to use this color in one of the bathrooms and pick a new color for this room. Another lesson learned is that we should really prime these walls first (you can see the oil through the paint, even in that picture). Although the paint we were using was paint and primer in one, it just wasn't up to it. Oh well, you live, you learn, and you buy more paint.
